Germany does not look rivaled in this group in their current form.Mexico and Sweden have upset top teams in the past and may try to make maximum out of their match against South Korea.
Mexico
Mexico is in their 16th world cup but have not yet been able to go beyond the quarter finals.Their last quarter was in 1986 when world cup was played in Mexico.Their star players are Rafael Marquez and Javier Hernandez.Former Real sociedad player Vela who had come back in 2014 after a hiatus & every coach's favorite Peralta could be the other forwards to be taken note of.They are coached by Colombian
Juan Carlos Osorio who is known for his unorthodox training methods and is nicknamed The Recreationist.
Current World cup champions and No.1 Germany can literally send two teams and they had proved that in Confederation cup. They qualified for the world cup slamming 42 goals while conceding only four and topping their group by winning all their matches. They have the talent to retain the title.Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Manuel Nueuer are among their goal keeper options and the core of their defence is same as that of Bayern Munich with Matt Hummels,Kimmich,Sule,Jerome Boateng and Chelsea’s Rudiger.Their midfield includes their confederation team captain Draxler, pass masters Kroos & Gundogan, assist king Ozil and Khedira while Gotze who scored in previous World Cup Final match and in-form winger Sane miss out. Then there is Marco Reus who missed the last world cup due to injury and would want to prove a point.Their attack would be led by Werner,Gomez and Muller.Their coach Joachim Low has got an extension till 2022 and would like to add another trophy to his cabinet consisting of 2014 World Cup and 2017 Confederations Cup.This is their 19th world cup and they have won it four times.
South Korea
South Korea is coming for their 10th World Cup and their best was the semi-finals in 2002.Their biggest player is Spur's Son Heung Min.Their midfield axis Lee Jae-sung and in-form striker Kim Shin wook could be the other players to be watched out for. They are coached by former South Korean player Shin Tae Yong.
Sweden
Sweden is appearing for their 12th World Cup.They were runners up long back in 1958.They could not qualify for the last two world cups. The team doesn't have much stars after the retirement of Zlatan Ibramovich, but they were able to get the better off Italy in qualifier play offs.Their captain Granqvist and midfielder Claesson plays in Russian domestic league.Other players to be watched out for could be Marcus Berg and Toivonen and midfielder Lustig. They are coached by Swedish football manager Janne Andersson.
